Ukulele Classes SSF sponsored community an 8 week-long ukulele class over the summer for students in the Sierra Plumas Joint Unified School District. Students learned rhythm, melodies, and basic strumming and picking skills that concluded with a mini performance on August 29th, 2020 with Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds.
The Origin of the Song was an interactive performance series sponsored by The Sierra Schools Foundation where world class classical musicians toured schools and community theater spaces to offer quality music enrichment. Modeled from Carnegie Halls’ Ensemble Connect, this performance series engaged with its audiences by exploring and discovering pieces of music and musical concepts around Australian songbirds.
Grizzly String Club was a collaboration between Musica Sierra, the Sierra County Arts Council, and The Sierra Schools Foundation at LES—an after school program for the entire 2021- 2022 year. Students engaged in a variety of activities related to music theory, sight reading, and more with fundamental concepts and techniques to better understand, analyze, perform, communicate, and create music.
